The Manservant Mysteries: Mystery at Mount Mountbatton

Author: Lee Herrmann

Despite being retired, Inspector Beauregard Pilkington still thinks of himself as the finest detective Scotland Yard has ever seen.  The truth is he's the worst, but no one has ever noticed thanks to his diligent manservant, Marmaduke, who is the real brains in the sleuthing team and allows his master to receive the accolades.

When Inspector Pilkington is invited away to Mount Mountbatton, the stately manor of his old university chum Sir Cecil Mountbatton, the last thing he expects is murder.  One of the guests unexpectedly dies at the dinner table, leaving Inspector Pilkington to flex his non-existent detective muscle, decipher the clues and solve the dastardly crime - that is if he does not make the situation worse!  With Marmaduke at his side to keep him in check and minimise the damage, Inspector Pilkington embarks down a dangerous path, where solving this case might cost him his life.  Plus there's a parrot, a cook and a couple of constables that might all hold a key to uncovering the mystery.

Set in 1920's England, The Manservant Mysteries is a novelisation of the popular radio serial, Murder in the Morning, which aired on University of Pretoria campus radio station TuksFM from 2001 - 2003.  Aimed at young adults (ages 12 - 16) but to be enjoyed by all, this is an absurdly funny murder mystery with eccentric, yet lovable, lead characters.
